For this edition of the IFFR x Dokhuis Filmclub, we’re presenting three Rotterdam films by Rotterdam-based makers, all centred on the theme of new beginnings.

22 August: Cinema Concerts x Operator x Carhartt x IFFR

In collaboration with Operator, Carhartt, and Roffa Mon Amour the Cinema Concerts are making a comeback after last year’s hit events. This time Operator, Rotterdam’s online radio station, will bring Loradeniz and Ngoni Egan to create fresh live scores for short films from International Film Festival Rotterdam’s archive. 

22 August: IFFR Filmclub x Skatelanes

Join us on Friday, 22 August, for IFFR Filmclub x Skatelanes at Roodkapje for an event dedicated to skating culture. Expect a night full of local skate edits, IFFR short films, live music and DJs.

4 July: IFFR Filmclub x Dokhuis

With the summer holidays just around the corner, join us for the summer-themed upcoming edition of the IFFR Filmclub at Dokhuis on Friday 4 July.

29 June: IFFR x LV: 50 years independence Cabo Verde

Marking 50 years since Cabo Verde emerged from colonial rule, LantarenVenster and IFFR join forces for an evening of film programming and conversation on Sunday 29 June.

6 June: Rotterdamse Dakendagen x IFFR: Good Time

With a nighttime view of the Nieuwe Maas, enjoy an outdoor screening of the film Good Time on Friday 6 June from the rooftop of Las Palmas.

6 June: IFFR Filmclub x Dokhuis

Join us Friday 6 June, for the latest edition of IFFR x Dokhuis, as we show three films shot in Rotterdam, made by Rotterdam filmmakers and each with a focus on performance art.

4 April: IFFR Filmclub x Dokhuis

Join us Friday 4 April, for the latest edition of IFFR x Dokhuis, as we show two films shot in Rotterdam, made by Rotterdam filmmakers and exploring what it means to live in our port city: Berichten uit de Hunkerbunker and Nu woon ik hier.

8 April: IFFR Filmclub x Erasmus: War and Peace?

On Tuesday 8 April, IFFR and Studium Generale are joining forces to present the event War and Peace? – a lecture and film screening on the war in Ukraine.

7 March: IFFR Filmclub x Dokhuis

This latest edition of IFFR x Dokhuis Filmclub celebrates National Education Film Month with a film about growing up. Join us for a screening of the Rotterdam film Shabu!

24 January: Islemunda x IFFR: Confidenza

Leading up to IFFR 2025, Podium Islemunda and IFFR are teaming up to show three films that screened at previous editions of the festival. On Friday 24 January, we’re screening Confidenza (2024). Will you join us?

24 January: IFFR Filmclub x Operator x Carhartt

As we lead up to IFFR 2025, join us and Operator for an unforgettable evening celebrating an icon of electronic music: DJ Mehdi. Experience his story on the big screen, then dance the night away to beats curated by Operator Radio. Are you in?

9 February: Het Documentaire Paviljoen x IFFR : Youth Trilogy

On Sunday 9 February, the last day of the festival, IDFA’s Documentaire Paviljoen and IFFR are teaming up for a full day of screenings in Amsterdam, showcasing Wang Bing’s Youth Trilogy.

23 January: Islemunda x IFFR: Confidenza (film and book)

Leading up to IFFR 2025, Podium Islemunda and IFFR are teaming up to show three films that screened at previous editions of the festival. On Thursday 23 January, we’re screening Confidenza (2024) together with a discussion on the book. Will you join us?

23 January: Filmclub: Rethink Apparel x IFFR x CultureHub

Join us on Thursday 23 January at CultureHub in Delfshaven for a memorable evening where cinema, fashion sustainability and academia meet. Rethink Apparel, IFFR and CultureHub put together a programme that includes a film, a talk and a Q&A which aims to make us question our fashion choices and general lifestyle as consumers.

22 January: IFFR Filmclub x The O

Rotterdam-based creative collective The O are known for elevating local talent through projects, collaborations, block parties and plenty more. Join its co-founder Solomon Kifle, together with IFFR, for an evening at Cinerama on 22 January where we’ll screen a behind-the-scenes look at The O, alongside IFFR 2024 Dutch body horror title Trauma Porn Club by Michael Middelkoop, who joins us afterwards for a discussion celebrating artistic community.

22 January: IFFR x Erasmus: How to Have Sex (with consent)

We’re thrilled to invite you to an evening at Erasmus University, featuring one of 2024’s most talked-about films, How to Have Sex by Molly Manning Walker, and a conversation with experts from the Erasmus Love Lab asking: what is good sex? And how do you guard your boundaries?

18 January: Films op Zuid – The Disaster Cannot Be Contained

IFFR and Library Rotterdam will screen the short film The Disaster Cannot Be Contained together with filmmaker Diana Al-Halabi. This is a free event. Bring a neighbour or a friend and experience the beauty of Rotterdam, also on the cinema screen!

17 January: Islemunda x IFFR: Pleasant Hell + Ans en het Universum

Leading up to IFFR 2025, Podium Islemunda and IFFR are teaming up to show three films that screened at previous editions of the festival. On Friday 17 January, we’re screening Pleasant Hell (2023) and Ans en het universum (2024). Will you join us?

9 – 15 January: IFFR Preview Tour 2025

Are you looking forward to IFFR 2025, and like a preview of the upcoming festival at a cinema near you? Then come to our nationwide Preview Tour! Before the festival, we will screen a film from our 2025 program in movie theaters and cinemas across the country during the week of January 9th to 15th.

11 January: Filmclub: IFFR x Dokhuis

Feel the comfort and warmth of home at Dokhuis as we explore what it means to belong. Enjoy a captivating series of short films that delve into the sense of feeling at home, whether in the world, a situation, or within yourself.

10 January: Islemunda x IFFR: La chimera

10 January: IFFR Filmclub x Queer Gym

Enjoy an evening filled with queer joy and queer film tips from our upcoming festival edition on Friday 10 January at Queer Gym with the fourth edition of the IFFR Filmclub!

23 November: Films op Zuid – Book and Knife

30 November: Filmclub – IFFR x Skateland

Dive into Rotterdam’s vibrant skate culture with a bowl jam and two IFFR skate films on Saturday 30 November at Skateland with the second edition of the IFFR Filmclub!
