IFFR Filmclub x Prins Alexander Pleinbioscoop

Prins Alexander Pleinbioscoop celebrates the opening of the renewed Prins Alexanderplein and NOIR NOIR’s first anniversary. Together with cultural and social partners, they’re bringing art, film, music and connection to the heart of the area, helping the station district grow into a lively place for community and culture. On the first day of this two-day programme, Friday 10 July, IFFR joins for a screening of IFFR 2026 film Tra Fasi (dir. Charity Charly) and the James Brown biopic Get on Up (dir. Tate Taylor). See you there?

About the films

Tra Fasi by Charity Charly (Netherlands, 2026, 20 min.)

Charity Charly’s directorial debut is a portrait of and tribute to Surinamese icon-in-the-making Shavero Ferrier. Growing up in an environment with all kinds of stigmas around punk and rock music, he kickstarted a community and ultimately built the alternative scene he’d longed for himself. Powered by the soundtrack of current and former bands Mutha Flac, Luguber and De Rotte Appels, expression and release burst from the screen. Punkers tot de dood!

Get on Up by Tate Taylor (United States, 2014, 139 min.)

Get on Up tells the inspiring story of James Brown, who rises from a childhood marked by poverty and hardship to become the legendary Godfather of Soul. With a powerful lead performance from the late Chadwick Boseman, the film shows how talent, courage and determination shaped one of the greatest music icons of all time. An energetic tribute to a man who changed music history forever.
