International Film Festival Rotterdam (hereinafter: "IFFR") respects your privacy. IFFR will not collect personal data about you during your visit to our website unless you choose to provide this information to us.

Use of personal details submitted by you 

IFFR will only collect personal data if you have chosen to provide this yourself. If you have requested information from us on activities, products and services, IFFR will process the data in order to fulfill this request. If you send an (open) job application, we will process your details as part of the standard application procedure.

IFFR may decide to retain certain details and provide these, if necessary, to protect the rights of IFFR or third parties. In other cases, IFFR will not pass on your personal details to third parties without your permission, unless we are obliged to do so by law.

Location Data in the IFFR App

Depending on a User's specific device, permission to use location data may be requested in order to provide additional functionality. By default this data is only accessible after the User’s explicit consent. It may be revoked at any time by the User in the app's settings page. Additionally, the User may also refer to the device's settings to revoke partially or completely this permission. The exact procedure for controlling app permissions may be dependent on the User's device and software.

Available functionality dependent on the User's location data is limited to:

Approximate location permission (while in use)

  • Daily suggestions of film screenings or side programmes in nearby locations

Approximate location permission (always-on)

  • Recommendations about films screening while nearby or inside certain venues
  • Reminders to rate films or overall experience after leaving a certain venue

Type of data collected
For Users that provide access to location data, we will collect their approximate latitude, longitude, altitude and speed. Additionally, we will also collect location data when users enter and leave all of our venues. This location data will be associated with their User data if applicable.

Retention time
Location data will be accessible for a limited period of time. For location data such as latitude, longitude, altitude and speed, this data will remain accessible up to 7 days after the last collection time. For location data, this information will be kept for up to 730 days. Users are entitled to request the complete removal of this data by exercising their right to be removed via [email protected] 

Processing of data
IFFR takes appropriate security measures to prevent unauthorised access, disclosure, modification, or unauthorised destruction of location data. Location data processing is carried out using computers and/or IT enabled tools, following organisational procedures and modes strictly related to the purposes indicated. In addition to IFFR, in some cases, the Data may be accessible to certain types of persons in charge, involved with the operation of this app (administration, sales, marketing, legal, system administration) or external parties (such as third-party technical service providers) appointed, if necessary, as Data Processors appointed by IFFR. The updated list of these parties may be requested at any time.
