3 April: IFFR Filmclub x Dokhuis
During this edition of the IFFR Filmclub x Dokhuis on Friday 3 April, we’ll be screening two films that tell stories of displacement and the personal effects it can have: Yasmin Shahbahrami’s There Was One, There Was None and Thana Faroq’s Imagine Me Like a Country of Love. Yasmin will be at Dokhuis to present her film and answer questions from Filmclub visitors. Will you be joining us?

About There Was One, There Was None
Yasmin Shahbahrami’s There Was One, There Was None probes the friendship between two Iranian girls across time and distance. With an exquisite colour palette and a melancholic tone, this short film attests to both the desire and the difficulty of keeping strong bonds when they are mediated by modern technology.
About Imagine Me Like a Country of Love
Thana Faroq returns to Yemen after a decade of geographical and emotional separation. Oscillating between personal drawings, intimate voice recordings and footage from the streets of Yemen, her thoughts about home take on new forms. As photographs from the past reawaken old memories, this fragmented journey slowly transforms itself into a gentle, personal reflection on absence, belonging and the power of memory when conflict reshapes a place forever.
About Film in Dokhuis
Dokhuis offers a unique space where people can come together to watch and create films. They believe cinema possesses the transformative power to help us explore not only the world around us but also the depths of our own selves. It serves as a dynamic medium for fostering meaningful dialogue and connection.
