IFFR x CineNoord: Rains over Babel

This month, IFFR is collaborating with CineNoord for the first time! Together we are organising a screening of the audacious Colombian queer drama Rains over Babel (IFFR 2025) on 16 April at 20.00. Will we see you there?

About Rains over Babel

Limbo has never been sexier than in Rains over Babel. Written and directed by Gala del Sol, this peculiar reimagining of Dante’s Inferno is a choral queer drama. The action revolves around Babel, a bar where several characters meet with La Flaca – the very incarnation of Death – with whom souls can gamble years of their lives in an attempt to outwit her. That’s how we meet Dante, who tries to unravel the secrets of his past before his contract with La Flaca expires; Monet, rushing to reclaim his body before it decomposes; Timbí and Uma, fighting to save beloved family members; and Jacob, experiencing an inner battle while preparing for his first drag performance.

  • About CineNoord

Since 2011, CineNoord has organized a weekly film programme in Rotterdam-Noord. And since 2014, there has also been the youth programme Filmkids, featuring film workshops and screenings. By now, CineNoord has organized more than 400 film screenings, always accompanied by a side programme.

The regular screenings take place at Studio de Bakkerij, but they also regularly show films at different locations, such as in the park, in a care home or at festivals.

CineNoord aims to share the love of film with its visitors. In doing so, they involve the audience as much as possible in the programme. In addition, they are a meeting place for everyone who loves film.

Tickets are available on the CineNoord website and cost 6 (1x for free with the Rotterdampas)
