Cinema Islemunda x IFFR: Pleasant Hell + Ans en het Universum

Leading up to IFFR 2025, Podium Islemunda and IFFR are teaming up to show three films that screened at previous editions of the festival. On Friday 17 January, we’re screening Pleasant Hell (2023) and Ans en het universum (2024). Will you join us?

Pleasant Hell, Suzanne Koopstra, 2023, Netherlands

A short documentary about a young artist and his friends in Rotterdam who connect through music and creativity as they wander through a life that they experience as a pleasant hell. Filmmaker Suzanne Koopstra pairs contemplative camera work with innovative production design, enabling her to shed light on her characters’ inner worlds.

Ans en het universum, Noëlle Ingeveldt, Juriaan van Berkel, 2024, Netherlands

In Ans en het universum, 80-year-old Ans Hoornweg looks back on a lifetime of extraterrestrial contact. A sincere tribute to a woman with an extraordinary story. Extraordinary for others, that is, as otherworldly connection was nothing so special for Ans.

Admission: €6

Tickets: via Podium Islemunda
