6 March: IFFR Filmclub x Dokhuis
During this edition of the IFFR x Dokhuis Filmclub on Friday 6 March, we’ll be screening two films that tell stories of the experience of women in Rotterdam in interesting ways: On Her Shoulders by Safaa Khelifati, a documentary on the story of generations of Turkish women in Rotterdam who have often gone unnoticed, and Regen in Augustus by Ashley Röttjers, who will be here to present her sensitive short film that follows a young woman dealing with isolation. Will you be joining us?

About On Her Shoulders
The film follows Elif and her granddaughter Oriana, as well as Mina and Chahira, highlighting the experiences of these generations of women. In the 1960s and 1970s, they played an important role in the city, often unnoticed. The documentary shows how these women tell their stories and how they have shaped the city.
About Regen in Augustus
While the modern world continues to turn around her, everything seems to stand still for the lonely Jasmine. She misses her boyfriend, struggles with her emotions and feels isolated in her Rotterdam apartment. In this sensitive short film by filmmaker and photographer Ashley Röttjers – winner of the RTM Pitch 2025 – we follow a day in Jasmine’s life, where visions subtly seep into the cinematic reality. After a chance encounter with a woman at a tram stop, something seems to shift within Jasmine, in this understated film about isolation and human connection.
