During the IFFR x Dokhuis Filmclub winter edition, we will be screening the films “Baozhda“, “Bubby” and “The Room of My Mom“. Will you be joining us on December 12 at 19.00?

Baozhda Film Still 1

About the films

Baozhda (Keran Abukasimu, 2024)
Young Keran is visiting his family in the snow-covered grasslands of northern China. He loses sight of a sheep destined to be sacrificed according to Kazakh ritual for that evening’s New Year’s festivities. Together with his cousin, he embarks on a search that leads towards a heavy responsibility and a heart-wrenching decision. A tender story of formative childhood, offering an ode to the stunning environment and the beauty and harshness of the traditions it harbours.

Bubby (Antony Vorovov, 2019)
Trying to stop bullying himself, the schoolboy decides to join his bully’s company, but the price for this is betrayal of his friend. What choice will the hero make and is it worth it?

The Room of My Mom (Antony Vorovov, 2014)
“The Room of My Mom” is a documentary film about the unequal confrontation of a private house in Sochi and the federal road occurred in the preparation process of Winter Olympics 2014.

  • About the IFFR Filmclub

Filmclub is a new initiative of IFFR, currently in the pilot phase, where (future) film lovers, young filmmakers and creatives come together to watch films and exchange interests. The idea is that the Filmclub will take place biweekly at various locations throughout Rotterdam, where a mix of (inter)national films, both new and true classics, will be shown in a relaxed setting in combination with discussions, workshops or parties. Whether you are discovering cinema for the first time or are already well on your way as a filmmaker, the Filmclub is a place to get inspired, network or just come and watch a film. The club works together with local communities throughout Rotterdam.
