DJ Mehdi, Made in France, 2024, Thibaut de Longeville, France
Self-taught composer, turntable prodigy, and visionary producer, DJ Mehdi was the only French artist to bridge the gap between two seemingly opposing worlds: rap and electro. Thirteen years after his sudden passing, this documentary series, directed by his childhood friend Thibaut de Longeville, sheds light on the role of this free spirit in the rise of these two musical scenes in France during the 1990s and 2000s. Featuring rare footage and exclusive interviews (Kery James, MC Solaar, Cassius, Justice, Pedro Winter), this extraordinary journey takes viewers from Paris to New York, offering a glimpse into the life of an artist little known to the general public, yet one who helped shape the careers of many great talents.
Starring; Kery James, MC Solaar, A-Trak, Gaspard Augé (Justice), Xavier de Rosnay (Justice), Rim’K (113), Mokobé (113), A.P (113), BoomBass (Cassius), Pedro Winter (Busy P), Matthieu Chedid (-M-), So-Me, Romain Gavras, Santigold, Dave One (Chromeo), Fafi, Manu Key (Mafia K1fry), Teddy Corona (Mafia K1fry), Riton (Carte Blanche), Jeff Dominguez, Latifa Essadi, Myriam Essadi.
