IFFR Filmclub x Dokhuis
IFFR Filmclub x Dokhuis returns for another edition on 10 July. This time, we celebrate Keti Koti, with a screening of the films Grandloge Filantropia by Bouba Dola and Waka nanga mi by Evani Gilds. Will you join us?

About the films
Grandeloge Filantropia by Bouba Dola (Netherlands, 2023, 44 min.)
When the western world is about to collapse because of fear, inequality, misogyny, xenophobia, narcissism and other disruptive forces, a secret Surinam based society comes to action. The apathy of the future western generations can only be nullified by letting the blood of the petty kids boil again. Therefore the cult sends their prodigy child Tjon Rockon, a former graffiti artist, to the Netherlands to rescue civilisation through the method of self-cancelling and performative rituals.
Waka nanga mi by Evani Gilds (Netherlands, 2023, 10 min.)
Vacillating between past and present, we observe Ewald at home. While his mother was hoping for a better future, he left everything behind to move to a new country. At home, he longs for the things he abandoned and turns to what he knows: his inner world. He focuses on his work as a watchmaker, while his past keeps veering into the present.
Both films have English subtitles.

About the IFFR Filmclub
Filmclub is a new initiative of IFFR, currently in the pilot phase, where (future) film lovers, young filmmakers and creatives come together to watch films and exchange interests. The idea is that the Filmclub will take place biweekly at various locations throughout Rotterdam, where a mix of (inter)national films, both new and true classics, will be shown in a relaxed setting in combination with discussions, workshops or parties. Whether you are discovering cinema for the first time or are already well on your way as a filmmaker, the Filmclub is a place to get inspired, network or just come and watch a film. The club works together with local communities throughout Rotterdam.
