Late August 1993
VHS Death Valley footage shot by Seoungho Cho in 1993 can be viewed only in a technically degraded state today. Cho grasps this playback as an artistic advantage: interfering bars of video static, sudden switches from colour to black-and-white, random noises generated on the soundtrack – all this can now be manually manipulated and played like a DJ mixes samples. An ode to the glory of machines!
