The omnipresence of face masks during the pandemic absented a key signifier and definer of humanity: our teeth. In this gorgeously grainy silent short, Friedl vom Gröller wittily guides us from the dentist’s chair to the street and to the park, encouraging the revelation of teeth – crooked, gappy, canine, with dentures – and in doing so distills 2020’s period of isolation and unknowingness into something unique, indicative and truly personal.
