Getting back on the dating scene after a breakup is an ordeal many of us have been through at least once in our lives. From this rather banal experience Axelle Vinnasac manages to create a perfect experimental romantic comedy. Echoing the avant-garde and mixing sensual 16mm shots with intimate dialogue, Soudain l’été is striking for its beauty and wit, and offers an idea of cinema that is vital and refreshing.
