Leading character in part three is Evelyne. After the death of her father, she travels to Munich to find out about the mother she had never known. The quest leads to the house of Mrs Cerphal, where Hermann has a room. This house, the Fuchsbau, is an elegant villa and functions as a meeting place for the artistic circle of students around Hermann. For the young artists Mrs Cerphal is their maecenas. With her passionate voice and her talent for singing, Evelyne makes a deep impression on the friends. The first screening of a film by a young film-maker from the circle is held in the villa a film very reminiscent of a youth work by Reitz himself. It is now 1961, the year the Berlin Wall was built.
