A film in the avant-garde tradition of dream or trance visions. It begins with forbidding images of Rotterdam’s skyscrapers. A female figure, oppressed by this urban environment, plunges into reveries of the natural world, replete with mysterious, mythological figures and ambiguous, ritualistic actions. Religious symbols both beckon and repel her. Fé Baan’s film uses superimpositions, dance-like movements and stylised camera work to evoke both ecstasy and threat, confinement and liberation.
A winning lottery ticket is worthless without valid identification to claim the prize, as this poignant fable about the misfortune of undocumented people shows.
