Now is film indeed the truth, 24 times a second, or rather a couple of dozen different truths, or simply all lies? In a playful way, Ana Torfs deconstructs in a series of posters this cinematographic sophism. Her photo-piece ‘Toast’ is just as lucid as thoughtful, with the allure of an emblematic tableau. Vérité exposée is a poster-installation that was created in the margins of her recent show Anatomy for the D.A.A.D. gallery in Berlin. Toast is part of an ongoing series black-and-white studio photographs which as an ensemble bears the title ‘à…à…aaah!’ (2000-)
