Exploding Camera
A couple of days before 9/11 the commander Massoud was murdered by an exploding camera, which triggered the Iraq-drama. Julien Maire deconstructed a video camera, but kept the light sensor in tact. Dots of light spread throughout the space are recorded by this camera and form a colourful light play. The explosions are caused by small lamps with varying intensities. The simplicity and near absurdity of the means used are in strong contrast with the aggressiveness and intensity of the resulting images.
