Indian shorts are mostly made in a very free, non conventional and challenging spirit. The programme consists of three student films from the prestigious Pune Film Institute, the main educational film centre in India, and from the Tamil Film Institute in Chennai. The films are marked by a certain absurdity and heaviness, and the Hindu notion of ‘Dharma’ or Cosmic Law. Some of the subjects are quite daring for Indian standards, like a gay relationship and a love affair between a prostitute and a young man. Rada Sesic
