In the final episode, everything again focuses on Hermann and his first great love, Clarissa. Thanks to his patron Handschuh, who even wants to adopt him as his son, Hermann has been able to embark on his own artistic road. His personal life has ground to a halt and no one seems to remain of his once so extensive circle of friends. Impulsively he leaves Munich, apparently without a destination, but he slowly becomes aware of the fact that he is in fact following Clarissa, who is on tour with her song and theatre company. In the end he finds her in Amsterdam, the Mecca of the hippies, and is awed by the witches opera of Clarissa and her friends.Hermann's last journey takes him inevitably back to the first Heimat, to the Hunsrück.As The Second Heimat comes to an end, it is 1970, the year of the spectacular liberation of Andreas Baader from jail and the death of Jimi Hendrix.
