Stefan the film director is the protagonist in episode twelve. On the set of the film he is shooting in Berlin, he is confronted with the excrescence of the prevailing opinions on direct democracy. Helga and several of her political friends intervene and turn the film to their own ends. Stefan can prevent a financial debacle by handing the production over to an American producer who was surprised in Prague by the Soviet invasion. Schnüschen also becomes infected by the spirit of the age and decides to become a student and a militant. Hermann becomes irritated by sponging activists, flees from the house and has an affair with a commune inhabitant in Berlin. Clarissa, the talented cellist, discovers she can better express herself musically with her voice.1969. The end of the Prague Spring and the Americans starts to withdraw from Vietnam.
