IFFR in São Paulo
There’s more than a little Rotterdam flavour at the 48th edition of the Mostra Internacional de Cinema em São Paulo, that runs 17 to 30 October. As well an extensive lineup of films that world premiered at IFFR 2024, there’s plenty of Hubert Bals Fund and IFFR Pro-backed titles in selection, including a homecoming for Marcelo Caetano’s São Paulo underground-set Baby, that’s also a case study in a new HBF publication launching together with Projeto Paradiso.

Publication launch: Development with Impact
The Hubert Bals Fund is in town for the Impact Day at the IV Encontro de Ideias da Mostra de Cinema, a joint event with Brazilian partner organisation Projeto Paradiso celebrating the past and future of the HBF’s impact in Brazil.
We will present our joint publication Development with Impact which offers insights into the vital role of early-stage development funding in Brazil and beyond. Through case studies, analysis, essays and conversation, the publication acknowledges the HBF’s legacy in Brazil and Latin America, whilst launching a determined call for joint action amid the uncertainty of the financing landscape.
