Miguel Gomes
Miguel GOMES (1972, Portugal) studied at the Portuguese Film and Theatre School in Lisbon, then began working as a film critic and filmmaker. He has made several award-winning short films. In 2004, he made his debut feature The Face You Deserve, which was shown in Rotterdam. His second feature, Our Beloved Month of August (2008), was selected for the Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes. Retrospectives of Gomes’ work have been programmed at the Viennale, the Torino Film Festival and the Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival. His film Tabu was the winner of the FIPRESCI Prize at the Berlinale in 2012. In 2015, his Arabian Nights trilogy premiered at the Cannes Festival. Grand Tour (2024) was selected as the Portuguese entry for Best International Feature Film at the 97th Academy Awards.
