Harmony and dissonance wrestle in this stylised short film about the duality of life. Over the course of Five Apples Don’t Make a Pair, a Japanese tea ceremony becomes a kind of metaphorical battleground, where all senses are deployed to capture the spiritual journey one has to undergo to find true enlightenment. Symbolised through poetic imagery, vivid colours, intense sound design and a poetic editing, the film’s style reflects the trippy experience of rebirth and self-discovery.
