A Study for the Skies
This short film is actually a study that Red made in preparation for the full-length concept Ang himpapawid/The Skies which he and collaborator Ian Victoriano were developing in the early 1980s. It turned out to be a successful short film in it’s own right, garnering citations from local awards institutions and going on to international film festivals in Europe, Asia and North America. It is a simple poetic story of a man building flying machines in his attempt to achieve free flight, as a representation of his quest for freedom, a poignant and also comic impression of man’s age-old dream of flight.
