The Malaysian rain forest. At first sight, the film is reminiscent of National Geographic, but it soon becomes apparent that the images are much more secretive and the sounds really mysterious and enchanting. The director entered the jungle on her own and does not hide the fact that she found the endeavour not only fascinating but also frightening. Civilisation can be heard only in the beginning, in the form of an Islamic call to prayer. Only a praying mantis seems to hear, and soon the jungle is overpowering in picture and sound. (GjZ)
