Among the many things you may inherit from your parents are money, preconceptions, turns of phrase, hairline, a like/dislike of hills. Among the things a new technology inherits from its predecessor is a language of metaphors. Bowman used digital means to process the amateur films of his father. As well as a family portrait and evocation of the Scottish landscape across the ages, this videotape is also a reflection on technology and memory.
