Apart from diary film-maker and sculptor, Luyken is also a passionate canoeist. He also taught that skill to his small sons Thomas and Lucas and, from an early age, they set off from the River IJ to a variety of destinations. Father imperturbably sails his canoe straight out to sea. Fragments from films from the last 20 years with images of water. Specially compiled for this programme. Edward Luyken (1950) attended art school in Rotterdam, studied and taught in the USA and learnt to make prints in England. He started making 8mm animation films in 1976 as an autodidact in Paris.
