NFF+HBF support for Darya Zhuk and Kamila Andini
In the latest round of the NFF+HBF: Co-production Scheme, projects by Belarusian filmmaker Darya Zhuk and Indonesian filmmaker Kamila Andini have been selected for a grant of €75,000.
The scheme is a joint venture with the Netherlands Film Fund and twice a year awards production funding to two former HBF-supported projects with a Dutch co-producer.
US-based Belarusian filmmaker Darya Zhuk receives a grant for her latest project Exactly What It Seems. The science fiction drama and romance feature, which follows earlier works such as Crystal Swan and The Real American, focuses on an asylum-seeking couple. When they are teleported back to Belarus by the regime’s new technologies, they have to reconcile in order to escape. The project is awarded through its Dutch co-producer Topkapi Films.

Four Seasons in Java, is the upcoming film from Indonesian filmmaker Kamila Andini. In recent years, she has garnered praise for films such as Before, Now & Then, which premiered at the 2022 Berlinale, where Laura Baskui won a Silver Bear for Best Supporting Performance for her role in the film. In Four Seasons in Java, a woman has to rebuild her life when she returns to her village after serving a prison sentence. Whilst doing this, she has to confront her past. Also presented at IFFR’s CineMart 2025, the project is awarded through its Dutch co-producer Lemming Film.
