Pethrus Tibúrcio
Pethrus TIBÚRCIO is a non-binary filmmaker based in northeastern Brazil. They directed the short filmTell Her What Happened to Me (2025), which premiered at the IFFR and received awards at its national premiere and won the best screenplay award from Projeto Paradiso and was selected for the Em Curta editing lab. Over the past decade, they have worked as an assistant director on more than thirty films, collaborating with renowned Brazilian filmmakers such as Kleber Mendonça Filho, Karim Aïnouz, and Marcelo Gomes. In 2024, they took part in Berlinale Talents Rio with their research project Tela Trans, an archive dedicated to mapping all scripted and directed audiovisual works by trans creators in Brazil. Pethrus directed the short documentary We Won’t Lose Weight (2016) and co-directed Wednesday (2014). They are one of the filmmakers selected for The Darkroom 2026.
