Khalil Joreige
Joana HADJITHOMAS (1969, LEBANON) and Khalil JOREIGE (1969, LEBANON) are artists whose work spans cinema, video, photography, performance, and art installation. Moving between documentary and fiction, they explore personal and collective narratives, history, traces of the invisible and the absent, and hidden stories such as the missing from the Lebanese civil war. Their films include Memory Box (2021), The Lebanese Rocket Society (2012), Je Veux Voir (2008), and A Perfect Day (2005), presented and awarded at major international festivals and acclaimed for innovative storytelling and visual experimentation. Their artworks have been exhibited in numerous museums, biennials, and foundations, earning several prizes including the Marcel Duchamp Prize. Retrospectives of their films have been held at institutions such as the Lincoln Center, MoMA, Tate Modern, Locarno and the Harvard Film Archive. They teach film and art, founded Abbout Productions company, and serve on the boards of Metropolis Cinema and the Cinémathèque Beirut. Their project Beirut Baby was selected for CineMart 2026.
