Hana Selena Sokolović imaginatively evokes the journey of her two older sisters, Senka and Zijah, away from war-torn Sarajevo during the siege that began in 1992, and through Bosnia and Croatia. To do so, she uses the poetic diary, from that same time, of another pair of sisters, Selma and Sara Parisi. Combining animated figures, voice-over narration and present-day footage, the film mines the poignant lyricism of a child’s impressions and reflections.
