Fantastical stories can reimagine a reality we live through in spite of our circumstances. Both films in this programme show how powerful fantasy can be – to keep imagining alternate stories, to reclaim agency through storytelling, and to move forward, and beyond. These films are from makers from the Zuid-Holland region.

  • Dear Orchid

    A lyrical evocation, through children’s writing, of a 1992 journey away from war-torn Sarajevo.

  • Insomnia

    A father with an incurable illness and his filmmaker daughter embark on a space adventure in this docufiction hybrid.
