What happens when you pair artists of the same discipline, but with very different backgrounds, in the same room for a couple of hours? Rutger Nijkamp and Vincent Boy Kars have created a film that is both a documentary and a ludic experiment about the paths of creative life: a minimalist yet deeply engaging proposal that reduces décors to three basic settings and strips narrative down to its bones in order to reveal to us the marvels of artistic expression.
In bubbel bubble, we follow the interactions of two performance artists, two musicians, and two painters: three pairs of artists, placed in different white rooms, engaged in collaborative creation. This is their first meeting but, spontaneously and idiosyncratically, they invent something new together –while playing with time, method, craft and each other. The journey is both surprising and exhilarating.
