Agnès Varda shot L’opéra-mouffe while pregnant for the first time. She wonders what the world will be like for her baby – and finds enough points of departure for her musing right in front of her doorstep, on the Rue Mouffetard. In its day, the film was a sensation because of some pictures and cuts that left the audience perplexed due to their suggestive daring.
