Mimi is a lovely little girl who is perfect in every way. According to her magic mirror, she is the cutest in the land – as long as she never ages. Maclean’s first fully animated video work, upside mimi ᴉɯᴉɯ uʍop is a twisted fairytale that’s equal parts Disney and TikTok.

Programme IFFR 2024

Focus: Rachel Maclean

Scottish multimedia artist Rachel Maclean joins IFFR for two programmes of her work, spanning most of her career. Working across an impressive variety of contemporary cinematic styles from animation to AI, the films share a sinister cuteness and critical view of contemporary culture. Come enjoy the malignant machinations of the media machine, in full colour.

Rachel Maclean is also part of the this year's Art Directions programme with I'm Terribly Sorry (immersive media) and DUCK (installation).

And, did you know that Rachel Maclean is also joining us for a Talk this year? Find out more via the button below.
