Dr Cute is a video lecture from an off-brand Care Bear Professor of Sweet and Sinister Studies. A rational dissertation on the nature of cuteness is quickly unhinged by the intense emotional responses the subject elicits, begging the question: what happens when something is too cute?

Programme IFFR 2024

Focus: Rachel Maclean

Scottish multimedia artist Rachel Maclean joins IFFR for two programmes of her work, spanning most of her career. Working across an impressive variety of contemporary cinematic styles from animation to AI, the films share a sinister cuteness and critical view of contemporary culture. Come enjoy the malignant machinations of the media machine, in full colour.

Rachel Maclean is also part of the this year's Art Directions programme with I'm Terribly Sorry (immersive media) and DUCK (installation).
