A contemporary version of the magic lantern. Influenced by free association and surrealist games, Paper Cinema creates sophisticated, hand-drawn, black-and-white cut-out figures and scenes, which are then projected onto a screen. Illustrator Nic Rawling brings these figures to life with deft movements, with the live soundtrack by 'little boat'. One of the most talked-about acts of the Edinburgh Fringe 2008.
