The Shape of the Gaze
The Shape of the Gaze is a sort of manifesto of radical queer film making in which Carpenter implicates the viewer in the exchange of looks between the film maker and her ‘butch’ subjects, disrupting the usual film maker-subject-viewer triad through interventions in colour and film surface.
