Kawase Naomi, one of the very first Tiger Award candidates, has built up a reputation for making very personal diary films. In this film she surpasses herself in every respect. For instance she films the birth of her own son, after which filming her own grandmother naked in the bath is almost matter-of-fact. Of course a film with such pictures is about birth and death, the passing of time and how you can give it some meaning as a person - and in this case primarily as a mother.
