With Stephen Dwoskin as Film Maker in Focus, we couldn’t resist the temptation to pause and look at his widely praised book Film Is… (1975), a survey of the classic avant-garde, but above all an impression of the crazy amount of filmic activities undertaken individually and in groups in the early 1970s. At our request, Dwoskin is presenting an evening made up of more and less well-known avant-garde films. Dwoskin: ‘A selection of films that represent the liberation of the cinema, while exercising the very fabric of cinema’s own iconographic dream-making magic. They are films of a time that remain forever.’
