Over a span of some thirty years, Robert Beavers has created a cinema of intense moments and mysterious beauty carved out of fragments of time and space. His is a personal, poetic and evocative cinema of images and sounds that draws on the inspiration of classical painting and architecture and is haunted by certain emotive locations and the warm Mediterranean light of Greece and Italy. It is a cinema that assumes film to be at its richest when most personal and hand crafted, most aligned to painting and poetry.
