Robby Müller Award 2025: Lol Crawley, cinematographer of The Brutalist

Published on:

We’re proud to announce the recipient of our sixth annual Roby Müller Award: British cinematographer Lol Crawley, most recently known for Brady Corbet’s epic post-war drama The Brutalist (2024). The award honours the behind-the-lens artistry of image makers who, in the spirit of the late Dutch cinematographer Robby Müller, have created a striking visual language throughout their work. During IFFR 2025, Crawley will give an IFFR Talk on his work, accompanied by a screening of The Brutalist, which marks the Dutch premiere of the film.

The jury for this year’s Robby Müller Award noted: “Lol Crawley’s camera is dedicated to the story and characters in a way that is both humble and ardent. It forms a close, dynamic relationship with them. His sensual cinematography embraces the environment as unpredictable and fluid and aims to align with its flow rather than confine it to a predefined frame.”
