Open Spaces: RAFF x IFFR Panel Talk – Preserving culture and freedom in a changing Syria
Join us for an engaging panel discussion on the role of art and culture in transitional periods. The talk will feature leading voices from the fields of music, film, and cultural preservation, shedding light on the challenges and opportunities for artists working in complex political landscapes.

After 40 minutes, there will be a Q&A session where the audience can engage directly with the speakers.
Panelists
Moderator: Rosh Abdelfatah, Director of the Arab Film Festival Rotterdam
Hannibal Saad – Musician and festival organizer dedicated to cultural exchange and preserving Syria’s musical heritage. His experience in international music events provides a unique perspective on the intersection of art, politics, and resilience.
Malaak Swed – Film producer and anthropologist who played a key role in documenting Syria’s revolutionary period through short films. Her work focuses on capturing and narrating the country’s profound transformations through cinema.
Reber Dosky – Dutch-Kurdish filmmaker known for his documentaries exploring Kurdish identity and broader societal issues. His award-winning film Radio Kobani highlights the aftermath of ISIS in Syria and showcases the power of storytelling in post-conflict societies.
