Zhang Xu Zhan

ZHANG XU Zhan (1988) is a director from a family with centuries of paper-crafting ancestry in Xinjhuang. He tries to expand the cinematic experience with contemporary art. In 2021, he was selected as one of the Artists of the Year by Deutsche Bank, which collected his animation and video art. His film Compound Eyes of Tropical (2022) won Best short Animation at the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival, the mephisto 97.6 audience award at the 66th DOK Leipzig (2023) and the special jury award at Animafest Zagreb 2022.
