Thana Faroq
Thana FAROQ (Yemen) is a Yemeni-born photographer, writer and educator based in the Netherlands. Working across photography, text and moving images, her practice explores memory, migration and intergenerational trauma. Faroq has received several major recognitions, including the Open Society Foundation Fellowship Grant and the Arab Documentary Fund, as well as being named One to Watch by the British Journal of Photography in 2020. Her photobook I Don’t Recognize Me in the Shadows won the PhotoWien Photo Book Award in 2021. She is currently a fellow in the first Arab Fund for Arts and Culture – ADPP fellowship programme. Her short film Imagine Me Like a Country of Love (2026) is supported by the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture – AFAC, the Mondriaan Fund and the Amarte Fund and has its world premiere at IFFR 2026.
