Pilvi Takala
Pilvi TAKALA (1981, Finland) graduated from the art academy in Helsinki in 2006. Her video works are based on performative interventions in which she researches specific communities, in order to explore social structures and question the normative rules and truths of our behaviour in different contexts. She was an artist-in-residence at the Rijksakademie, Amsterdam (2009-2010) and was awarded the Dutch Prix de Rome. Her work is displayed in solo exhibitions throughout Europe. Takala’s film Players (2010) was nominated for the 2011 Tiger Short Award at IFFR. In 2022 she was selected to represent Finland at the 59th Venice Biennale. Some of her short films like Drive With Care (2014) or The Stroker (2019) have also screened at IFFR.
