Okawa Toshimichi
OKAWA Toshimichi (1957, Japan) is a screenplay writer and director, known for his participation in various Japanese anime. He graduated from the Meiji University Faculty of Law in 1980. He worked part-time at the promotion section on the 7th floor of Toei Company when he was attending university. Later on, the screenplays that he wrote were accepted by Nippon Television, where he made his debut as a formal screenplay writer with the 1980s TV drama Taiyō ni Hoero!. During that time, Okawa also studied under the famous scriptwriter Ei Ogawa, namely, as a junior of Kazunari Kouchi. Since then, he has been active in a wide range of fields, including television, movies, live-action and animation. The Crime Hunter trilogy, which he directed, will screen as part of the V-Cinema focus programme at IFFR 2026.
