Jesse Jones

Jesse JONES (1978, Ireland) is a Dublin-based artist working with film, performance and sculpture through expanded cinema. Her practice explores speculative feminisms, myth and suppressed archetypes, creating immersive installations that propose counter-narratives to dominant histories. She represented Ireland at the Venice Biennale in 2017 with Tremble Tremble, inspired by the Italian wages-for-housework movement of the 1970s. Her recent work, Mirror Martyr Mirror Moon (2025), combines 16mm film and sculpture in dialogue with Artemisia Gentileschi’s Self-Portrait as Saint Catherine of Alexandria. Jones teaches on Sherkin Island, West Cork, for TU Dublin, and is an elected member of the autonomous association of artists in Ireland, Aosdána.
