James Hatch

James HATCH (1928-2020, USA) was a filmmaker, director and producer who also taught English and Theatre at City College of New York and authored dozens of books. Together with his wife Camille Billops, Hatch was committed in his work to African-American history and memory. As artists, activists and collectors, the duo raised awareness about racism, classism, and ageism embedded in the complex narratives that have shaped US culture, politics and identities. Among their films was Finding Christa (1991), which won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival.
