Viera Čákanyová
Viera ČÁKANYOVÁ graduated in Screenwriting from the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava and in Documentary Film from FAMU in Prague. Her debut feature-length film, Alda (2009), won Best First/Second Film at Visions du Réel. Čákanyová gained international recognition for her loose post-human trilogy: FREM (2019), White on White (2020) and Notes from Eremocene (2023). Both FREM and Notes from Eremocene premiered at Berlinale and were screened or awarded at over 50 international film festivals worldwide. In 2023, her complete retrospective was presented by the VOD platform Tënk, and in 2024, at Taiwan IDFF.
